Embroidery Show Part Five: Sarah Abbott

Sarah Abbott!

My friend Sarah Abbott hand embroidered a series of 10 of her favorite illustrations by Edward Lear and they looked so amazing framed and matted up! I love how cohesive her collection was, it was the only series out of all of our work that was a genuine collection and I couldn't stop looking at her little baby stitches all night. She used mostly one strand of thread on all and all black floss. The tiny details are amazing, so look close!

"Edward Lear is an English artist, illustrator, author, and poet, renowned today primarily for his literary nonsense and limericks"

Sarah typed up the limericks using an old typewriter and placed them underneath the embroideries; it was such a nice touch! Most of her pieces were made with specific people in mind (one of them being me!) and with so many illustrations by Lear to choose from, the ones she chose are amazing.
